Principal's Message

Welcome to the Hagan Spackenkill Elementary Web site. Our school is located on 42 Hagan Drive, Poughkeepsie, New York, 12603. Our staff is comprised of skilled and caring professionals who are dedicated to the academic, social, and emotional development of the 522 students attending this school. Valuing the importance of developing good citizenry, they recognize individual differences, and seek to instill concern for others. They encourage the growth of self esteem and nurture the human potential so that all students can be positive contributors to a democratic society. They will encourage each student to understand and respect a person of a different race, sex, ability, cultural heritage, religion, political, economic, and social background. By providing students with the knowledge of ecological consequences, they will be prepared for choices about the use of the environment and natural resources. The staff believes in children's rights and responsibilities to reach the fullest potential by developing critical thinking, communication, and problem solving skills that require mastery and encourage attitudes that are critical skills for the twenty-first century.
