May 2008
Dear Nassau Families,
I thought I’d begin this monthly letter with a riddle I heard in 4th grade this week. If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring? With a groan, the answer of course is Pilgrims!
Our New York State Testing continues this month as our frequently tested 4th graders will have an opportunity to show their mastery in the area of Science. The test is in two parts with one being objective and the second being manipulative. Children enjoy the manipulative portion as they move from station to station, completing a variety of tasks involving scientific concepts.
As predicted, our 5th graders had a wonderful experience at Sharpe. Thanks to all of the parent volunteers, staff, and children for contributing to the success. The weather cooperated for all three days; if only we could bottle that for next year!
Please review the calendar closely for both May and June as there are many special days. We certainly hope you will be able to join us for as many as your schedule permits. Please help us remind the children that instruction continues through the end of June.
Enjoy the May flowers!
Fondly,
Barbara Craft-Reiss
Principal
