anemometer

An anemometer is used to measure wind speed. Wind speed is measured in miles per hour, kilometers per hour or knots nautical per hour. One type is the cup anemometer. The wind spins the cups around. Ours is a propeller type. The wind spins the propeller. The faster the wind blows the faster the propeller or cup spins. Wind speed reports tell us if we will be experiencing a hurricane or a blizzard.
