A thermometer is used to measure temperature. Temperature is measured in degrees. There are two different types of thermometer, Fahrenheit or Celsius. We most often use Fahrenheit to measure outside temperature. When the liquid in the thermometer warms up it expands and rises. In the weather report the thermometer reading helps us know what to wear and whether it will rain or snow.
