Friday, April 28, 2017 – Even Day

Today’s Highlights:

  • Junior Prom pictures are now up on the hs photo gallery and also on the TV in the main lobby.

  • Attention seniors Plans for the senior post prom party are being made.  The site being considered for this year is DC Sports in Wappingers but we need at least 25 students to commit to attending.  If you are interested in extending the fun of prom night with mini golf, sim games, music, food and prizes sign up on the door of the nurse's office by May 5.

  • Seniors a permission slip for the Six Flags Grad Nite went home in the mail. Please return slip along with admission payment of 50.00 to Mrs.DeFreest or Mrs. Pisano as soon as possible. The deadline is May 5th for the bus.

  • The Class of 2019 is holding its first annual Cake Auction and wants YOU to join the fun! Students, parents, and community members are invited and encouraged to make a cake and compete for the most elaborately decorated cake award. Bring a cake or buy a cake and be a part of history.  The cake auction will be held on Thursday, May 4 @6 p.m. in the high school auditorium.  All proceeds will go to the class of 2019.  Please see Mrs. Oakley or Mrs. Fahy with questions or to sign up.

  • Due to lack of senior boys interest in participating in Mr. Spack, the show is cancelled for next Friday night.  If any other senior boys are willing to participate, we will reschedule on a later date.  Senior boys see Mrs. Lynch or Mrs. Stong asap if you haven't signed up but want to participate.

  • The biennial PRISMS concert is Tonight at 7pm. See any HS music student or Miss Carter, Mr. Catanzaro or Mrs. Kaczynski for tickets. This is exclusive show is put on by the music department only once every two years. Don't miss it!

  • The first open workout for fall cheerleading will be today from 6-8 pm at the Nassau Elementary Gym. Anyone interested in participating in cheerleading should attend.

  • Spring Spirit Week is this week. Today is Spack Spirit Day. Thursday: Tacky Tourist Day and Friday is Fiesta Friday.

  • Today is the health and wellness fair. It is open to all students and staff from 4-8th period and will include fitness challenges, food samples, classes on pilates, self defense, urban street defense,

and crossfit.There will be raffles and prizes awarded.

  • The Ping Pong tournament is today from 3-5pm in the Gym Lobby. Entry Fee is 5 dollars. Prizes will be awarded!

  • Spack Onstage is proud to bring to the stage GREASE this weekend. Tickets are going fast! We will be selling tickets before and after school!

  • Congratulations to Vincent Li for ranking number one in the DUSO League mathematics competition.  Cynthia Ma ranked fourth, while Zachary Johnson and Andrew Wu ranked sixth. The Spackenkill A, B, C and D teams all qualified for Sectionals. Congratulations to Vincent Li, Cynthia Ma, Zachary Johnson, Andrew Wu, Anshuman Swain, Robert Waxman, Jeana Chun and Anubhav Shankar, who are advancing to the State competition. Rachel Li earned alternate status.

Today we will be conducting an Emergency Evacuation and the regularly scheduled Go Home Drill. The evacuation will occur around 1:25 by PA Announcement. Spack on stage presents The Haunted Theatre tonight in the Auditorium from 7-10pm. “Once you enter the Slaughter house, you’ll never escape!” Admission is only $5

Zombie Fest will be held this Saturday, at Spackenkill High School in the lower parking lot. The first walking tour departs at 6:30 pm and the last will leave at 7:30 pm.  Other spooky activities will be available as well.  The cost is only $5 and proceeds benefit Leo Club's Adopt-a-Family Program.

Of the 48 golfers that competed in the event, Spackenkill took 4 of the 20 qualifying positions and 2 of the top 10 medals

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS:

Today is Class Color Day Seniors: Black, Juniors: White, Sophomores: Tie Dye, Freshman: Blue. Friday is Spack Spirit Day-Green and White!!

There will be a general Drama club meeting today 2:15 in the black box. All members’ spring and fall should attend.

Today is the last day to sign up for Pep Rally activities.

Today is the last day to work on hall decorations after school.

There will be a representative from Western Connecticut today at 9:00 in the Guidance office. Interested students can get a pass from guidance and should sign in to their class first before coming to the college visit.

Club Happenings:

There will be a mandatory meeting for all club and class treasurers on Monday, October 17th, at 2:10 in room 110 with Mrs. Hourahan.  All advisors are welcome to come.  All clubs and classes must submit your treasurers' names to Mrs. Hourahan no later than Oct.13th.

Spartan Sports: 

The golf team will compete today (Thursday) in the MHAL Championship Match at Apple Greens. The golf team won the Championship last year and is hoping to make it 2 in-a-row. Good luck.

Girls varsity soccer defeated Ketcham 2-1 yesterday.

Girls cross country defeated:  Marlboro , Highland, Rhinebeck and Coleman 15-45.  Jeana Chun placed first, Beth Jenkins second, and Melissa Common fifth.

Boys cross country defeated Coleman, Rhinebeck, and Highland 28-29, and lost to Marlboro .

Congratulations to the Spackenkill golf team for winning its 11th straight Division III title! They will play in the MHAL championship next Thursday, October 6th at Apple greens.

Science Olympiad is meeting on Thursday 9/22 at 2:10 in the MST room. We will be reviewing the events for this year's competitions and preparing for this Saturday's Car Wash.

There will be a volunteer day at Locust Grove on Sunday, September 25  for all National Honor Society members who did not attend the car wash of who need more volunteer hours. The sign up sheet is posted outside Mrs. Tremblay's door.

Club Happenings:

The junior class is sponsoring an Ultimate Frisbee tournament this Friday right after school! Come enjoy the nice weather and have some fun with your friends. You can sign up on Mrs. Stong's door (room 113).  You can sign up with a full team of seven or a partial team. The cost is $5 per person to play and $2 a person to watch!  One lucky player will win Mrs. Stong’s cookies!!  See you there!!

The Photography Club will be holding its first meeting after school on Thursday, September 22 in room 418. All interested students are welcome!

The Spackenkill golf team improved its overall record to 7–0 with a 169-260 win over  Dover at the Harlem Valley Golf Club yesterday.
