What's Right with Spackenkill!

June 23, 2017

A tradition of excellence with a vision for tomorrow

Dear Spackenkill Community,

It’s always enjoyable to end the school year on a positive note. On June 12th we held a special celebration meeting, aka What’s Right with Spackenkill! There are so many hard-working students, staff, and community members that the evening is only a short sampler of the good work in our district. There was standing-room-only in the dining hall at Todd and the evening ended on a standing ovation to our retiring teachers!  What a great memory for all of us!

This newsletter is dedicated to the Celebration event and the district's moving up and graduation ceremonies.

Sincerely,

Mark Villanti

Senior Presents HS Library with Interactive Art

library muralGraduating senior Isabel Long (pictured above with librarian Kris Chen and art teacher Roberto Romani)  has created and donated an interactive mural to the Spackenkill High School Library.  She assembled a set of small doors mounted on a large door that open to painted scenes inspired by some of her favorite books.  Each door contains a unique piece of artwork along with book excerpts and the title of the book that inspired the painting.  The door will be installed permanently in the library.  Thank you, Isabel, for this beautiful addition to the high school library!  Special thanks also to Karen Baker for the collage art above and for the many photos and inspirational stories she has contributed to this newsletter throughout the school year!
