High School
Thank you everyone for attending this year’s first High School PTA meeting. The new slate of officers were introduced and voted in. The budget was reviewed and accepted for the 08-09 year. Many topics were discussed and we would like to take this opportunity to let you know the Harvest Dinner is coming in October. This will be held the same night as the Bonfire! Please join us for dinner, refreshments and desserts. Thank you all in advance for your generous donations in helping make this dinner such a success!
Everyone will have the opportunity to sign up for Individual or Family PTA Memberships at the Parent Coffee held in October. We realize how schedules quickly fill up and you may not be able to attend all PTA meetings. So, don?t forget to look for the e-mail sign up at the membership table in the front lobby during parent coffee so we can keep you updated on monthly discussions. We are hoping for volunteers for various (but easy) positions & will have a sign up sheet for that as well. We will also be having another raffle that night for a Spackenkill blanket. Who will be the lucky winner?
We value each and everyone's input and hope to see more of you at the next meetingwhich will be held October 16th at 7:30 in Room 103. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact those listed below with phone numbers:
Lydia Biskup /Chair 462-8925

We got off to a wonderful start; our first PTA meeting was well attended. Thanks to everyone for coming out! We are wrapping up the district fundraiser, and starting the busy month with Spiritwear. You will be getting information soon and all orders are due on October 10th. Our October meeting will be on the 15th. Hope to see you there.
Some other things to look forward to this month are the Scholastic Book Fair, Halloween dance pizza sales, and Picture Day on the 30th! Please come see us and sign up for membership on parent coffee night on October 7th, 7-9pm. Remember to clip and save those box tops!
Hagan
Our Hagan PTA Kick-Off Meeting in September set us off in the right direction! We were glad to see so many people attend – both familiar faces and new ones. Our next meeting is scheduled for October 27 at 7:00 in the Teachers’ Lounge during which we hope to have a special presentation on Music. Also, representatives from the High School Project Committee will be there to discuss their plans-in-progress.
Hagan’s Curriculum Nights were successful with coffee and treats provided by the Hagan PTA. The evening gave opportunity for parents to sign-up as Room Captains and Room Parents. These parents will be put to work almost immediately prepping for the first of three classroom parties.
We’re wrapping up the district gift-wrap sales and the PTA membership drive from September. Thanks to everyone who supported these events.
There’s lots of reasons to smile in October:
- Be on the lookout for our school directories. They should be here soon.
- Prepare your child’s smile. Picture Day is scheduled for October 30.
- Expect an abundance of smiles on October 31 when the classes have their Halloween parties.
- Spiritwear sales should get a smile. Accessorize Hagan-style.
- Hagan's 3 top Box Top collecting students will win Webkinz for the fall giveaway. Now, that's something to smile about! Box Tops will be collected throughout the year, so please keep clipping.
Hagan’s easy-use Notepads should get smiles from parents. Notepads are a simple way to send communication to the school about your child’s absences, end-of-day pick-up changes, etc. Notepads are available all year long-simply send in $2.00 in an envelope with your child’s name and teacher; attn: PTA notepads, and they’ll be sent home to you in your child’s backpack.
Note: If there are any items you’d like to see added to a Hagan PTA agenda, please contact our co-chairs: Tricia Barefoot (471-7789) or Dionna O’Brien (206-2395). Once again, thank you Girl Scout Troop #488 for offering free babysitting, a valuable service that makes it possible for many parents to attend.
