SHS Character Education and Flex Class
In response to feedback from students, parents and teachers, the ninth grade flex class has been reorganized to better meet student needs. During the last period of alternate days, each ninth grade student meets with one of the four flex teachers for attendance. Because all flex classes are scheduled during the same period, teachers can then group students by individual or small group needs. Similarly, students can be brought together as a large group should the day’s activity warrant. Throughout the year, flex students are engaged in orientation activities, relevant character building exercises using the text Secrets for Success, discussion of current events, opportunities for independent reading, a chance to get additional support and study skills training from core content area teachers.
