Music at Spackenkill High School
Philosophy
The basic philosophy behind our music program is to advance and refine the musical skills developed at the middle school level. Students are held to a high level of musical achievement. Music classes meet every day. All students receive a pull-out lesson on a rotating basis. Students develop composition skills using technology. At this time, all musical offerings at the high school level are performing ensembles. Students perform music from a variety of genres, cultures, and time periods. All instruction and assessments are directly reflective on the National and New York State Learning Standards for the Arts and the goals of our district.
