Welcome to the Spackenkill High School website. I hope you find it informative and useful.
In recent years, Spackenkill High School has continued to have its share of success. Academically, we were selected as one of 12 schools in the United States to participate in the University of Cambridge Pre-U/Global Perspectives and Independent Research (GPR) Program. Our Science Olympiad team has represented New York State at the National Competition. We have also been recognized by Newsweek and The Washington Post as one of America’s Best High Schools. Athletically, our soccer team has won the New York State Championship and our school has been recognized by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYPHSAA) for outstanding sportsmanship.
Spackenkill High School is located in a largely middle to upper middle class suburb of Poughkeepsie, New York. The district is comprised almost entirely of single-family dwellings. A large proportion of the district’s residents are well educated, with many working in professional or managerial capacities. One of the largest IBM Corporation facilities in the country is located within the district. Vassar College, Marist College and Dutchess Community College [D.C.C.] are located within 10 miles of the school.
Spackenkill is a four-year public school offering college preparation, general business and vocational programs. The school population is around 600 with over 50 faculty members.
Traditional programs of study are supplemented by accelerated studies, advanced courses including the University of Cambridge Pre-U/GPR Program, Advanced Placement Curriculum, and/or concomitant college enrollment opportunities [with Vassar, Marist and Dutchess Community Colleges participating].
