2017 National Merit Scholarship Commended Students

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced the names of about 34,000 commended students in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.  We are proud to announce that Anshuman Swain, Eileen Gao, Susan Gong and Anirudh Bhimavarapu are being recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance.  Commended students place among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2017 competition by taking the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.  Congratulations to all of you on this significant achievement.

2017 National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalists

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of 16,000 high school seniors who qualified as semi-finalists in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program by their outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT.  We are proud to announce that (pirctured left-right) Anubhav Shankar, Leah Mozeshtam,Vincent Li, Isabel Long, Robert Waxman and Nathan Liang were all named semi-finalists. 

These young men and women will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 7,500 Merit Scholarship awards to be offered next spring. Congratulations on a job well done!

Orientation: Wednesday, September 21st 6:30pm-9:30pm in the High School Auditorium

A parent must attend with the student. If you have any questions call the Guidance Office at 463-7822

**only students who are pre-registered will be seated.

Any walk-ins will be put on a waiting list based on first come first served.

Musician to Perform at National Concert

Spackenkill High School junior Annika Hill will perform at the Yamaha 2016 National Junior Original Concert on July 17 at the Cerritos Center for Performing Arts in Cerritos, California. Annika will present "Fly Away (Let Your Imagination Fly)," her original composition for piano, children’s choir, winds, strings, brass, and percussion. She is one of only 12 music students selected to perform an original musical composition at the event, whose participants range in age from eight to 16. Congratulations to Annika!

Kabongo Barry Makes History


Congratulations to Spackenkill High School junior Kabongo Barry, who competed at the New York State Public High School Track and Field Championship in Syracuse on June 10.  Kabongo won the state public school title in the 200-meter dash, setting a new school record with a time of 21.79. He finished second in the 100-meter dash.  In the Federation final he finished sixth in both the 200-meter and 100-meter events.
He is the first Spackenkill male track athlete to win a state title.
