REGISTRATIONS FOR SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM CLASSES WILL BE ACCEPTED
AT ANY TIME DURING THE PROGRAM AS LONG AS THERE IS AN OPENING IN THE CLASS.
THE DEADLINE FOR CLASS REFUNDS ON ANY DROPPED CLASS IS THURSDAY, JULY 2, 2009.
THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS AFTER THIS DATE.

Program Information
- Classes are open to all Spackenkill District students in grades 1 - 8.
- Classes will be held on a weekly basis at Todd Middle School unless otherwise noted. The program will be in session from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon, Monday through Friday.
- Class dates are as follows: July 7 - 11, July 14 - 18, July 21 - 25, and July 28 - August 1, 2008
- Children may register for as many weeks as they choose.
- Please review the course offerings listed in the Program Catalog or on this webpage. Children will be registered on a grade level basis according to the grade they will enter in the Fall 2008.

- A short break will be incorporated into the morning. Children should bring a snack and beverage which does not require refrigeration.
- Fee: $60 per course
- Registration Deadline: Wednesday, May 14, 2008
- Please use the registration form on the inside back cover of the Program Catalog .

- Registration(s) should be placed in an envelope along with payment [make checks payable to Spackenkill School District]. The envelope should be addressed to the attention of Summer Enrichment Program and returned to the main office at your child’s school. Please use separate forms for each child.

This class will teach basic spelling with letters, names, colors, animal names and more. The children will also learn a variety of children’s songs and to sign common everyday phrases.
# 3 BASIC SPANISH FOR KIDS / GRADES 1-5 / Adrian Vazquez - THIS CLASS IS CANCELLED
This is an introductory Spanish class that will introduce students to the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures around the world. The use of games, language and music will be integrated into the class with the students actively participating. The class is also designed to prepare students for future foreign language studies they will take later in their academic careers.

Game seekers - you are in the right place. Learn to play a variety of age-appropriate board games, card games, team building games. Different activities will be offered every day. Come enjoy a week of games and FUN!
Children will explore the world of the American Girl doll as well as each doll’s time period and even celebrate with a tea party. There will be lots of American Girl craft projects as well. Make sure your American Girl doll comes along - or any special doll you have.

This class will build on what students have been introduced to in the basic class. Students will learn more vocabulary and phrases as well as dig deeper into French culture including art, music, and cuisine.
Dance the morning away! Learn dances from the 70’s to the present. You’ll learn a variety of dances including the Disco, the Cha Cha, country line steps, the Mambo and much more. It’s a great way to exercise and have fun!

Let’s recycle those water bottles, soda cans, magazines and newspapers, milk cartons, jugs, aluminum cans, and even those plastic grocery bags. We’ll turn them into beautiful crafts and works of art. It’s an easy and fun way to recycle your garbage.

Join the production of “Hairum Scarum.” The class will cover movement, voice exercises, theater games, improvising and learning lines. Props, costumes, and scenery will all be covered with the whole class involved in the process of putting on a play.

Make, decorate, & learn to play your own instruments. Explore wind, string, and percussion sound and then make your instrument using recycled or unconventional materials. Enjoy a week of musical mayhem!

Students will explore the world of chocolate by learning about the history of chocolate, the chocolate-making process and the big names in chocolate. There will be taste tests, graphing, baking and game playing, all with chocolate as the focus.
