The basic philosophy behind our music program is to further develop the student’s musical skills that began in elementary school. Classes meet on an alternating day schedule, during which the students are assessed on rhythmic abilities, listening skills, performance skills. In performance ensembles, these include sight reading, scales, and quality musical literature. All students study and/or perform music from a variety of genres, cultures, and time periods. All instruction and assessments are directly reflective on the National and New York State Learning Standards for the Arts and the goals of our district.
